The power of Tones

I have lately noticed how powerful the tone of our voices are. Of course i knew it was powerful from the start but today ive given it a deeper thought. Probably because i have a baby girl who i use all the different tones with.

Have you noticed how we sound when we want to put a full stop after a sentence we say? There is a halt. for example.."Happy feast". Now try to say happy feast again and then follow it with an "and" meaning you have something else to say after that; for example.."happy feast and may next year be happier" Have you noticed how we tend to make the feast a little extended? "Happy feeeeast and..." Heheh so when u wanna tell someone this is the end of the conversation you really dont have to say it... you sound it! as in THATS IT.

Now notice the tone of the question. The last word in the question always has a different tone... which implies expecting an answer. ANd then when you call someone's name... for example in my case.."Leen" could sound like you are simply calling.. or "Leen?" as in implying you know something or is accusing someone of something. ANd then ofcourse there is "Leeee...EEEEEEEN!" and that means youre in trouble!! :) I have specifically chosen a name that i can extend and alter my pitch in easily so i can scream and feel satisfied. Has anyone ever thought of that while choosing a name? I have! :)

Ofcourse emotions show in our voices very much. Imagine you are calling someone on the phone and listen to their voice... We can usually tell if this person is sad or happy or hyper and hippy or sleeping (and that doesnt mean they have to yawn so we would know.. it just sounds like his/her lips were glued together for some time! :)You can also tell if someone is in ahurry to hang up either because the food is burning on the stove or because "ghost whisperer" is on TV (thats what im usually in a hurry for) :)

So many tones that express so much. It can sometimes even give a way a persons background or education.. But i dont know how to explain that though im sure anyone will know it when they hear it!

So watch out for how you sound and how you say things. Coz obviously your tone too can make an impression and not just your words.

Like it and I think it's so through.. It's not what you say but how you say it!
