Big BOrSS

Whats up with bosses these days!! Have they gone totally nuts?

SOmetimes they give themselves too much rights that literally come out of no where.

One of my friends had a henna party she attended. So she had some Henna drawn on her hands. Next morning she was surprised to find her boss so disgusted and told her that she wasnt allowed to have henna on her hands!! Where did THAT come from.

So she simply told him... my husband doesnt mind... what is it to you!?

He on the other hand told her that he doeant like his secretary to have this kind of art on her hands and ordered her to either wear gloves to work or not come to the office until the henna fades!!! Ofcourse she took the day off (NOT from her annuals)

Another time one of the kitchen girls came to work for the management kitchen. SHe was a veiled girl. However, the rule was... if she wanted to work up in management floor she had to lose the veil. Yeah...and they say only arabs discriminate!!! These are foreign rules and not national ones. Or maybe they are!!!!
Anyway being the "not so high class" girl that she is.. she agreed to take it off. I then once saw her in the bus and found her all veiled.. i didnt know her... and i didnt know she was veiled in the first place! Anyway some girls are just veiled out of tradition more than anything else... so its up to her.

And lately, since we had this company policy that used to say formal wear all week except thursday smart casual. Ofcourse we all came in Jeans. The management hated it and changed the policy to formal all week.

Then decided to go back and be lenient with girls (ONLY) saying they can wear jeans but they have to wear heels. I rememeber asking my boss... do you want us to wear stilettos too? maybe red ones so we would look hotter???! :) He didnt mind!!
But to me all i cared for was wearing jeans coz its my most comfy clothes when im in the office. ( i wore heels for a while and now im back to my "clogs" :)))

But honestly... who are these people who think that being managers have the right to control their subordinates!!! I mean WOW... the nerve they've got!. Soon enough they will tell girls to have their hair cut short to their shoulders or maybe specify a style!! :)))

Has anyone seen such actions from their bosses before?

I work at a university and people are generally good about me wearing hijab and abaya. My boss is totally relaxed, but the general feel of the uni is very "high class" and people judge me based on how I dress.

I think it's amazing that this kind of discrimination still goes on. Women suffer more and if you are young or even desperate for the job it's awful.

Pre-Islam, I remember working in a law firm where I felt it was not ok to not dress sexy, it brought a lot of anxiety, but I did it "fit in". The women were savvy, I believe I was a smart girl, but I buckled.

And you see the difference in how colleagues, the clients, the judges and other lawyers look at you.

Gives me shivers just thinking about it.
