My Fortune Today

My fortune today on yahoo says "Take a moment to remember fourth grade"

I found the idea fun and started recalling these happy childhood days.

I remember i was in aldiyafa school (currently Aldiyafah highschool) When it was in Jumeirah in a small villa beside Abella supermarket and its principle was Mrs. Dikona (May her soul rest in peace). I loved her and i loved my class teacher (Mrs. Vasanti). It was, however, the first year i come in 4th place out of a full class... of 6 people! That was maybe the worst year i had. Not only was i the 4th out of 6 people i was also devasted because i was used to come in 1st or 2nd on 30 kids. So you can imagine how i felt. i was humiliated. But that was the only downside to this academic year.

4th grade was also the year i met my current sister. She remembers that she was told wonders about a girl she will be meeting in her new class. A girl who was sweet and friendly.. only to find a snob who called her a donkey on her first mistake or something! hehehe. I really cant remember that AT ALL! oh yeah that girl turned out to be ME!

4th grade back then was the oldest class in school. We were the eldest kids. We used to be supervisors over kindergarten kids when teachers had a conference. We felt so big! :) We played with the kids like they were babies and we were their mothers. Its amazing how authority and mostly trust can make you feel.

I remember we sang ryhmes with them. We played with them in an educational manner. "WHat word starts with an R and has long pointy ears and eats carrots"
Are we good or what.

I also remember the day one of my class mates pissed me off in someway or another and i went to the principle to complain to her. SHe made him sit in the yard with her dog. When i think of it now i feel it is so humiliating... but maybe she just wanted him to play with the dog. I dont know what was on her mind. But i remember i felt bad when he got punished. I felt like it wasnt such a big deal that deserves this punishment! Oh well.

ALso i remember the day we were getting vaccinated. We went to the nurse's room and the shots were to be taken in our hinies! And since the nurse room had a window i used to put up blankets so the boys outside wont see our a$$es and mock us.

I loved that school. I wish i could go back... even though its not the same at all. Its a highschool now. A huge building with huge gardens and playgrounds. But someday i will pass by it and pay my respects to any of the staff left there. Maybe there will be someone still there.. who knows.

Thanks Mrs.Vasanti, Mrs.Magda, Mrs. Fillow, Mrs. Elvira, Mrs. Dikona and all my lovely teachers of ALdiyafah school. I really cherish those days!
